Annette Lapointe, Director
My medical career started as a secretary in Radiology at Central Maine Medical Center over 30 years ago. I obtained my Surgical Technologist Certification in 1983 and became a Registered Nurse in 2000. I was blessed to work in the Operating Room for over 25 years. In October 2018, I began my work with the Early Lung Cancer Screening Program and became a full-time navigator in March 2020. I met Deb shortly after when she offered our program a grant to assist non or underinsured patients to obtain lung screening CT scans.
My personal experience with lung cancer is losing several family members and friends to the disease after late-stage diagnoses. Although not lung cancer, I have personally benefitted from an early diagnosis of cancer and am here to advocate for the priceless value of early detection. I am honored to join the board and work with hospitals across Maine to help their patients afford screening.
I am involved with the Early Detection Work Group through the Maine Lung Cancer Coalition to improve Lung Screening awareness and accessibility across Maine. This spring, I was a proud advocate at the Lung Voices Summit to request support from our Maine legislatures for Lung Cancer Research funding.
